Romance Ideas for Planning your Wedding Anniversary

By Jennifer Williams

Wedding anniversaries are important dates to remember and celebrate, whether it is your first anniversary or your golden anniversary of 50 years. Remembering and celebrating says to your partner that this date in time is just as important as your wedding day when you exchanged vows.

When anticipating your wedding anniversary, it is important to give time and thought to planning prior to the actual day. Your sensitivity and appreciation of the importance of your wedding anniversary, shown by the time you spend preparing for the event, will speak louder than any expensive gift or romantic date. Therefore, when planning your wedding anniversary, there are a few romance ideas that may add to the occasion.
Notes
A great romance idea is to express your feelings and the depth of your devotion through writing. This can be done in a number of creative and innovative methods. These written expressions of your love will not only be in the words that you use, but in the locations that you place these notes of devotion.
For example, write a favorite romantic line from a poem or sonnet on a self-adhesive note. Attach your special poetry to your spouse’s pillow, vanity mirror, refrigerator, coffee cup, breakfast bowl, etc. An example of a romantic line could be the phrase, "Drink to me only with thine eyes.” This quote could be placed on your spouse’s coffee cup.

Another romance idea that involves notes would be the creation of your own poem. You could use the old standard, “roses are red; violets are blue,” or put down your own original thoughts. Don’t worry about whether your lines rhyme, but instead focus on sincerely expressing your love and appreciation for your partner.

Anniversary Week

Another powerful romance idea for celebrating your anniversary is to celebrate your love for a week or month, instead of just one day. Explain to your partner that one day for an anniversary is not enough time to celebrate the love that you share with each other. Therefore, you will lovingly decree that the entire week of your anniversary date will be anniversary week.
Each day of your anniversary week would allow you to do something special in appreciation of your marriage, and would lead up to your anniversary day. Some of those romance ideas could include a personal massage by you, preparing a special meal, taking on a particular chore that is generally done by your partner, or some other loving gesture.
